Grandkid Therapy

One of the best things about moving back to Portland has been being close to family, especially given the health challenges we've been dealing with.

We firmly believe that frequent doses of Kai and Dash therapy have played a role in Mom's success in beating back her cancer

And as Red moves towards his last days, it's been wonderful to watch his face light up when he spends time with Kai. Since the very beginning she has shared special smiles with him and this weekend when we went down to visit, she was particularly expressive with him.

Baby therapy. You can't beat it.

Introducing Finn.....

This weekend we were thrilled to meet Kai's new cousin.

Finn Beecher Varble Davis
Born June 13th

Taking after Kai, Finn was a healthy 8 lbs, 9 oz and 21 inches. We're so looking forward to watching the two of the grow up together.

Congratulations Sarah and Kevin!!

Between Finn and Dashiell, Kai is going to have some rough and tumble boys to keep up with. Somehow, we're not worried about her holding her own. :-)

Our Turn

After many years of being the cool friends who enjoy everybody else’s kids (and after a couple of months of practice being the new aunt and uncle) it’s really nice to be able to share the news that it’s our turn now.

The little bundle of chaos arrives the end of March, 2009.

We’re happy.

Brian hopes the little one will hang around long enough to be an April Fool’s baby, thereby fulfilling the prophecy (which led to much back pedaling and apologizing and subsequent exile)

In their honor.....

b&b in pink.

Today we proudly joined our In the Pink teammates and 45,000 other participants and did the 5K walk in the 2008 Koman Race for the Cure. We walked for Brian's mom, who just had a mastectomy this summer and is doing great, for Sarah's mom, who bravely fought breast cancer until the end in December 2003, for my dad who gave his colon cancer all it could handle until his death in August 2004, for my Mom who looked metastatic melanoma in the eye and has been cancer free since 2002, for my friend Michael's mother, for Red who won't let chemo slow him down, and for all those who have fought and are still fighting the scourge of cancer.

Introducing Dashiell....

Or.......entering uncle (and aunt) hood

After a nasty 12 hours of labor, Lori and Jon presented us with our first nephew:

Dashiell Stefan Bloomfield

Mom, Baby, and Dad are doing just fine, though due to Dashiell's small size (5 lbs) they might stick around the hospital an extra day.

We can't wait to watch him grow up.
